This is the last and final in the Transformation Blueprint series – your do-it-yourself guide to personal transformation. Today we tackle your money story.

I need the money!

Have you ever said that to yourself?

Is it why you are staying in your marriage?

Staying in your job?

Taking whatever work comes along?

Part of my transformational journey was sorting out my money story. It was the last area of my life that I was willing to look at honestly and frankly.

And believe me, I had regrets!

I had made some very poor decisions in my life because of fear.

I had literally lost millions more than once. And at one time I was nearly a million dollars in debt.

I used money to make up for parts of my life that weren’t working. I used to say “I have a PhD in retail therapy.” – right after seeing my therapist, I’d grab my credit card and go!

You know the saying – “when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping?” That philosophy left me deep in debt.

Over the last year, I’ve done a lot of work on understanding my relationship with money, my perception of wealth and rewriting my money story.

In that process, I learned:

Money is a symbol for what we value, and often it’s a symbol for how much we value ourselves.

Fear leads to poverty.

Giving away knowledge produces the highest return.

Mastering thought is the key to wealth. twitter

As you read those, what comes up for you? Is it time for you to rewrite your money story?

The most important thing to know about money fear is that, most of the time, it is not real.
