In the conversations we have had, many of you have asked me, “How did you get to where you are? You left your marriage, your career, and you built this amazing new life for yourself– how did you do it?”

I’ll tell you. Today, I am opening up my secret toolbox to share with you the path I took to get to my very happy and healthy life.

At the time, I didn’t know what I was creating while I was creating it, but looking back I had a very methodical way of developing a blueprint for personal transformation that has become the basis of my coaching practice today.

I am pulling back the curtain to share with you exactly what I did to ignite my transformation and I will organize my resources around the major sections of the Happiness Quotient®. If you haven’t taken the assessment yet, you can do it now.

Spirituality:

Like many of you, I was lost and confused after being in a dominating marriage for nearly 25 years. That day that I woke up, I asked myself, “Who am I? How did I get here? And what is the quickest way out?”

For those answers, I turned to mediation. (I had never meditated in my life before!)  Not one to do things in a small way, I enrolled in a 10-day meditation retreat and found so much strength and wisdom in that experience that I now make this annual pilgrimage to just be with what “is.”

Here are some books that have influenced me if you want to get started on your own:

The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle

Relationships:

One of the keys to creating better relationships was not to make the same mistakes I had made before. I asked myself, “What patterns am I repeating in my relationships?”

I then dug deeper: “What was my role in these relationships? How did I allow this treatment? How am I responsible?”

For me, I found patterns in my relationship with my father, my ex-husband and my manager. When that insight hit, it was “Whoa! I do have a part in this, so how do I change it?”

That work (and some fun with online dating!) helped me to articulate who I didn’t want to be in relationship, and exactly what characteristics I did want in an ideal partner and then attract that partner into my life!
