Have you ever doubted you’re on the right path?

Have you ever asked God/The Universe for a sign?

“Hey Universe, can you drop me a sign and let me know you’re still here? Am I moving in the right direction?”

It can be a lonely path to feel that you are going it alone, and yet everywhere you turn there are signs that this physical body you occupy is only a fraction of the real “you.”  Infinite courage, infinite wisdom and infinite resources to get things done are available to anyone who asks.

But yet, somewhere along the way fear may have got the better of you, and the path you are on, or the path you feel called to take, can feel momentous.

So you doubt. “Am I good enough?”

Before you waste eons of precious time going around in circles let’s do what has worked for thousands of years.

Throughout history, humans have asked for signs from God.

Gideon, told by an angel that he would be the one to free the people of Israel from their oppressors, doubted himself. “Who me?” he questions God. Understandably, Gideon, this humble kid from a little town outside of Jerusalem, had some reservations about leading the Israelites in battle.

So, Gideon struck a bargain with God.  “I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor,” he said, “and the next morning, if there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground around it is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand.”

That night Gideon sets a fleece outside. The next morning, the fleece was soaking wet and the ground around it was dry. Gideon squeezed the fleece and wrung out a bowlful of water.

Still unsure, Gideon asks God to reverse the sign. “Allow me one more test with the fleece,” he said, “but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.” Again, Gideon set the fleece outside, and the next morning the fleece was perfectly dry while the ground all around it was covered with dew.

“Courage is the commitment to begin, without any guarantee of success.” Edwene Gaines

In her book, “The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity,” Edwene Gaines is unsure about an offer to become the minister of a remote church in Knoxville, TN.

The salary they offer her “is not enough to cover my dry cleaning bills” she laments.

But she decides to call on God for a sign. “Moses had a burning bush, and I’m just as good as Moses” she said, “I want a burning bush! God, if you really do want me to go to Knoxville, Tennessee you better give me a burning bush or I’m not going!”

As these words barley escaped her lips, she passes a sign along the road, “Burning Bush Restaurant” straight ahead.

She was stunned and speechless, and after a quick dinner at The Burning Bush restaurant, she accepted the offer of $600 a month from this small congregation and was provided a rich and abundant life far beyond her small paycheck.

Pam Grout, in her book, “E-Squared (E2): Nine Do-It Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality,” gives us a challenge to the Universe in experiment #4: The Abracadabra Principle: Whatever you focus on expands.”

The premise of this experiment is to prove that your thoughts can bring material goods into your life. What can you manifest? “Pretty much anything you’ve ever seen, heard or experienced. The world is basically your own mail-order catalog,” according to Pam.

“[There’s] undeniable evidence that a universal force is listening to me and looking out for me.” – Pam Grout

Take my experiment as an example.

For me… what I manifested couldn’t be easy. I really wanted to challenge the Universe with  something that I wouldn’t normally see or experience in my day to day – it had to be “beat me over the head so that I notice” kind of different.

Since I was about to make a big switch in the focus of my business, and damn if I am going to put a lot of attention, energy and money behind an initiative, I want to know that I’m on the right path.

I wanted a sign. Like Gideon’s fleece and Egwene’s burning bush, I wanted a sign that I could not possibly doubt.

So I formulated my ask, “Universe, if I am on the right path, show me a Pink Flamingo.”

Of course, it’s me, so I had to make it super difficult (or so I thought). There are no living pink flamingos in the East End of Long Island, nor is it a popular motif. It was my way of saying, “So there – PROVE it to me!”

The Universe is a Pink Flamingo

I asked to see a pink flamingo within 48 hours.

I worried I wouldn’t see my answer. I was afraid that with 60,000 distracted thoughts passing through my head each day, I might get my sign and miss it completely and how embarrassing would that be to be given a gift that big and not even see it!

At the end of day one I scanned back across my day, did I miss my sign? Was there a funky something in the five and dime and I didn’t pick it up? Maybe my friend had kische dish towels and they passed my radar. I went through my mental rolodex of my day… I gave it another day… nothing, nada, zip.

“Either I am completely out of alignment or maybe I’m completely on the wrong track,” I thought to myself. “I’m glad I didn’t tell anyone about the pink flamingos… this would be really embarrassing if I did.”

The morning of day three (the day after the senior prom at my son’s high school) I see the preview of prom photos the night before and guess what? Inflatable pink flamingos everywhere!

I had to laugh. Of course the universe had to give me a giant sign. I had asked after all and there was no missing these bright pink air filled beacons of validation.

Since then flamingos cross my path on a regular basis – propped next to pumpkins on halloween, in shop windows, in my christmas stocking, on gift bags, pool floats and yes, clothing. The lastest was a shopping expedition for my boyfriend and I happen upon this… yes, happily hanging in my closet waiting for our first barbecue of the season.

So why do I share all of this with you? Because no matter where you are what you are doing, how much money, success or love is in your life, God/the universe has your back. If you want to test, go ahead. Ask for a sign.

Get your mind cleared and come up with your own very clear intention.

What will you ask for? A burning bush, a pink flamingo, a surprise check in the mail (yes that one works too). Tomorrow when you sit in meditation or write in your journal, formulate your sign.

Make sure you are ready to receive…. That is, be in alignment, breathe and remain in mindful awareness

If you want to have even more fun, reply now and let me know your ask. Check back in a couple of days and let me know what happened.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, you want is already here for you. All you have to do is ask …and receive (but that’s a post for another day).

Big Love,
